License Manager
Licenses are the way that FilmTracker members share content
with each other. They give the project owner or representative complete control over who has access to their material.
For example, if a FilmTracker user (Bob) enters a
project on FilmTracker using MY PROJECTS titled BOB’S MOVIE IDEA, he can upload
various pieces of CONTENT as part of this project, such as the SCREENPLAY file.
Each content he uploads has its own licensing tools, allowing Bob to decide
WHO can download these files, and UNDER WHAT PARAMETERS.
When a user wants to download your content (a file associated
with a particular project), they must first get a ‘license.’ The project owner
assigns licenses on an individual basis or issues a default license that applies
to all users requesting the content. You may charge per download of your content
if you choose.
Below we have summarized the different license options available to Bob in this example:
- PRIVATE - Bob has uploaded BOB'S MOVIE IDEA, but isn’t ready to share it with anyone else. His file will remain private until he is ready to share it.
- PUBLIC - Bob is ready to promote and market his work and is going to make his content available in the Marketplace. If he makes the license public, Bob has three choices:
- NO LICENSE NECESSARY - IMPORTANT If you choose this option, people can download your material without your knowledge! If Bob check's this box, any filmtracker registered user could download Bob's SCREENPLAY.
- BY REQUEST ONLY - People will see your content in the marketplace, but must (1) REQUEST and (2) BE APPROVED BY YOU before being able to download your content. If Bob checks this box, registered filmtracker users will be able to see all the general information Bob has entered about his SCREENPLAY, including his logline, if he entered one. In order to actually view BOB'S SCREENPLAY, FilmTracker users would have to request a license from BOB.
- ISSUE THIS DEFAULT LICENSE - All users will be given a default license that you set. NOTE: You can override the default license and issue other licenses individually at any time (SEE BELOW). This option enables BOB to set a defualt license to all registered FilmTracker users. BOB can elect to charge for downloads of his material, can limit the number of times each user can download his material, and can send an automatic greeting or other message to anyone that downloads his content.
- FEES - You may charge for the license if you choose! Contact us for more information
on fees
- ACCESS - You can limit download licenses to ONE TIME ONLY or TEMPORARY
- MESSAGE - The message users will receive once they download your content.
