How do I Promote and Distribute my material using FilmTracker?

MY PROJECTS is where FilmTracker members:

  • Post projects to put in the FilmTracker Marketplace or distribute privately
  • Edit and manage projects they have already entered
  • Request coverage on projects from our professional readers
  • Upload content files for these projects and assign licenses to other members to let them download their project content

Why should I use MYPROJECTS and FilmTracker to post my material?

FilmTracker.com is where you, the creator, enter the entertainment community and let your material shine. FilmTracker first launched in March 1999 under the domain name 'scripttracker.com.' It was a tool developed solely for development executives in Hollywood to enable them to 'track' all of the new creative material entering the industry on a daily basis.  The site was quickly adopted as the industry standard and now has several hundred established production companies, studios, distributors management companies, and agencies subscribing to its industry services. In all, there are thousands of development executives visiting FilmTracker on a daily basis.  As we became the exclusive destination of creative discovery for Film and TV professionals, the next logical step was to allow the content creators, agents and managers to access these buyers and put their material on display.

What Makes this different than any other site promising unparalleled industry access?

  • It's not a promise; it's a TOOL, a tool that the industry uses as a standard on a daily basis. We're simply expanding the tool to include the SELLERS (you, the writer or filmmaker) as well as the agents and managers that will get your material sold.
  • YOU control EVERYTHING. FilmTracker is not a middleman that will pick and choose the material it deems worthy for these companies. Instead, we created every level of control, license and access possible, and put it back in your hands. Our viewer management tools will empower you to find your fans, make your contacts and participate in the community in a way that simply doesn't exist anywhere else.

Is it safe?

The best and most important part of what we do is that it is completely in your control.

  • YOU decide whether to make your project public or not
  • YOU decide who has license to download you content (users must request first if you choose)
  • YOU can even choose to charge every user per download!

PROTECT YOUR MATERIAL!

Although we have taken great measures to protect your material (by enabling you to identify and authorize every person that downloads your material), filmtracker.com requires that you register your material with your local Writers Guild or Copyright office prior to posting it. As an intellectual property owner, this is something you should do before sending it to anybody, on the Internet or otherwise. Check out some links for places you can register your creative content.

Can I use 'MY PROJECTS’ to distribute material without putting it in the public marketplace?

Absolutely.  Often times, an agent, manager, writer of filmmaker may want to send material to SPECIFIC individuals without making it available to the general public.  Using MY PROJECTS, these users can enter a project on FilmTracker, keep it completely private and send its content to users on an individual basis using the License Manager to issue individual licenses.

What's the difference between a Project and a piece of Content?

Simply put, content is a PART of the project.  Content is/are the various types of media files that may be uploaded as part of a project.  For example, the project might be a feature film, and content that you would upload as part of the project are the screenplay (as a PDF file) and the trailer (in a streaming media format).  Listed  below are the various types of projects you can post on FilmTracker, and related content.
